This Greatest Local Multiplayer Release You've Almost Certainly Never Tried Is Coming to Switch
Wizard of Legend II, an roguelike adventure centered on sorcerers aiming to become renowned heroes, makes its debut to Nintendo Switch later this month. It'll be playable Nov. 25, giving devotees of shared-screen titles a second chance to discover among the year's most impressive entries in the genre.
A Challenging Start
Wizard of Legend 2 took the roadmap of many niche titles. The development team launched it in early access in late 2024 on PC platforms, before releasing it completely, alongside PS5 and Xbox versions, in the summer of 2025. When it debuted, it was widely panned. Merely less than a third of its audience ratings were complimentary. The player reviews on Steam were "varied", based on almost a couple thousand assessments, with many gamers pointing out the general lack of polish and litany of bugs upon release. Those on consoles additionally condemned that the co-op feature, a key feature for the release, largely didn't work.
Consistent Improvements
Yet similar to several early access titles that launch in rough states, The Wizard of Legend Sequel has gotten better. Over the past few months, the development team have deployed a series of patches aimed to address these concerns. Having played Wizard of Legend 2 more than any new game release this year, I can confidently say its functionality has improved than it was at launch (for Xbox, if nothing else). It has achieved the stage where most of the time, one can successfully start a cooperative run to work. Pretty good!
Once It Works, This Game Works
And when The Wizard of Legend Sequel works, it truly delivers. Using an isometric view, you fight through magic-oriented levels by launching incantations in Hades-like gameplay. A great deal of rushing, lots of evading, plenty of handling spell delays. It's extremely quick and highly imaginative; when you mix and match your abilities alongside a partner's, you can devise powerful synergies.
Nintendo Switch Release Details
While the portable iteration is yet to be extensively tested, one should consider Nintendo's famously strict guidelines for certification for Nintendo titles. The development team confirmed in a news release that the Nintendo release of The Wizard of Legend Sequel features all updates that have been applied recently.
