The Grisly Animated Movie Ending That Haunts Audiences

Out of every adult-oriented animated films I have ever viewed, no other has stuck with me quite like the dread-soaked ending of a explicitly bloody as well as deeply subversive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, this Spain-based filmmaker crafted a dark, somber and often savage universe with some tiny , desolate twinges of hope.

Although Unicorn Wars appears as it originated from an impulse to expand animation further, the director explained that it was more an attempt to communicate a global, cross-cultural theme concerning “the common origin of each battle.”

This theme is conveyed via a squad of brightly hued teddy bears , obviously modeled after a famous series of cuddly characters.

Being raised in a community focused on aggression and the war machine, many of these creatures are obsessed with killing the mythical beasts, because of a religious scripture that claims them they previously were masters of the woodland, before the unicorns forced them out.

Others haven’t fully bought into the indoctrination, , would rather try out substances and mate outdoors.

In contrast to their cuddly counterparts, these colorful critters have visible genitals , clear sex drives.

For one notably brutal, skeptical animal, the bear named Bluey, the war with unicorns transforms into a route toward dominance — and specifically to dominance above his more tender, nicer brother Tubby.

The character is a bully and a seeming sociopath , and when terror overcomes his unit and claims his fellow soldiers individually, he grabs increasingly influence personally, through ever more bloody, damaging approaches.

Meanwhile, the unicorns are experiencing their own terror, in the form of a spreading, destructive monster in their habitat.

“At the beginning, it seems like a humorous movie,” the filmmaker said. “But then it becomes a more serious and melancholic film. And in the finale, it becomes a scary feature.”

Unicorn Wars begins resembling among the quirky movies from a legendary animator, which find a naughty glee in letting drawn beings swear, shoot each other, or engage sexually.

Subsequently it evolves into more akin to a bleaker film by that same artist, with increasingly graphic violence and a palpable connection to the actual horror of war.

Ultimately, it is a complete Grand Guignol massacre.

The fear that turns this a perfect Halloween viewing begins a lot earlier than one might expect.

The Unicorn Wars is suited for the devoted lovers of violence, for lovers of intense movies who desire to view a film they have not watched previously, and who can handle a story that pulls no restraint.

See it with the lights off with no disturbances, and the conclusion will crawl deep within you and take up residence there.
