Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Arrives, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.

The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Beloved Titles

Much like the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands

The film will feature once again of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut near the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 promises to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.

The company has a trio of new releases already confirmed for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
