Iran Claims Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
