BF6 Players Agree: Tasks Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received significant enthusiasm, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's most difficult challenges, which are required to access certain guns.

Players have started resorting to custom matches created through the Portal feature to complete them, emphasizing just how demanding these challenges have become.

Grasping Battlefield 6 Objectives

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. There are four categories of assignments, but although many merely grant outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the exclusive means of obtaining 12 of the 41 main guns present in the game.

A number of these restricted firearms might eventually find their way on rankings for the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash on Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Meanwhile, hipfiring an LMG is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at very short distances, which is not usually a position you aim to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Overly Demanding Mission

A different forum member brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, within the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with marksman guns

This is challenging enough as it is, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at such a long range.

There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but since there are only nine levels in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing a specific urban map, a particular valley environment, and possibly a classic map in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from over 200m away.

The Alternative Method

Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, complete with bots. This implies you can cheese the system… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.

But when doing the challenges in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for finishing these in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?

Potential Changes

It is expected if several of these tasks are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the locked firearms.

Currently, the player base continues to express their views on these demanding battlefield assignments, anticipating a less arduous gaming experience in subsequent patches.
